  Barbara Franzino, PT, MAPT, Physical Therapist      
 

Barbara Franzino graduated from New York University with a BS in Physical Therapy, a BA in Psychology and Master of Arts Degrees in Orthopedic Biomechanics and Ergonomics. Trained in manual therapy techniques including myofascial release, cranial sacral therapy, muscle energy and joint mobilization, Barbara uses a holistic approach and her more than 20 years of experience to focus on her orthopedic and sports medicine caseloads. Barbara has advanced training in biomechanical evaluations and custom-made orthotics.

In addition, Barbara has completed a comprehensive yoga teacher-training program certified by the Yoga Alliance and is a registered yoga therapist with the International Yoga Therapy Alliance. Barbara’s most recent training includes the Anusara Yoga Teacher Training Program — level 1 and 2 and Therapeutic Yoga using Anusara principles.

Barbara lives in Fairfield with her husband and two children. In addition to her physical therapy and yoga classes, Barbara enjoys biking, hiking and spending time with her two dogs.

  Diane Sell, DPT, MSPT, CSN. Physical Therapist and Nutritionist       
 

Diane Sell is a staff physical therapist focusing on fitness and nutrition. Diane graduated from Cornell University in 1987 with a Degree in Nutrition and from Simmons College with a Masters in 1995 and a Doctorate in 2007 in Physical Therapy. She has specialized in Sports Nutrition and Wellness for the past 20 years for clients of all ages. Recent physical therapy coursework includes McKenzie’s mechanical diagnosis and treatment and Gary Gray’s Chain Reaction Transformation — a technique aimed at maximizing functional mobility and sports specific movement. In addition to her physical therapy patient work, Diane is available for one on one nutritional analysis and ongoing nutritional programs.

Diane lives in Fairfield, CT with her husband and two children. She is actively involved with her children’s school activities and enjoys family outdoor time and biking.

  Cynthia Sweeney, PT, Physical Therapist       
 

A graduate of the School of Allied Health in Physical Therapy and the University of Connecticut, Cynthia had extensive experience in orthopedic and sports physical therapy prior to joining Preneta Physical Therapy in 2008. In addition to her more than 20 years of patient experience, her progressive approach to physical therapy includes both traditional and manual therapy techniques.

Utilizing the McKenzie approach, closed chain exercises, core stabilization, muscle energy techniques, fascial release techniques, and tri-planer functional exercise programs, Cynthia has always been on the cutting edge of advances in the field of physical therapy. Recent coursework includes a North American Seminar on the cervical spine where she focused on treatment approaches for cervical disorders.

Cynthia enjoys kayaking, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, hiking, gardening, and rug hooking.

  Richard Preneta PT, Physical Therapist and Clinic Director       
 

Richard Preneta is the owner and director of Preneta Physical Therapy. A graduate of Quinnipiac University, Richard has been treating patients in Fairfield and the surrounding area for 23 years. Through the years he has successfully directed staff physical therapists, athletic trainers and exercise specialists and has personally treated thousands of patients at the 2119 Post Road address since the clinic doors opened in 1996.

Richard’s continued education course work includes a number of manual therapy courses; muscle energy, myofacial release, and plyometric and core stabilization techniques as well as balance and vestibular rehabilitation. He specializes in hands on treatment, sports medicine and geriatric care. Recent coursework includes training with the Mulligan Concept where he furthered his joint mobilization and manual therapy techniques.

Richard lives in Milford with his wife, Shay, and twin children, Kevin and Bella. He enjoys a variety of hobbies including wine making, gardening, and his newest passion — bee keeping.
